Another view taken from Park St towards the above photo point. Station Road is the road to the right, West Park St. to the left.
The taller house in the centre is no longer there and the one to the left of it has been pulled down and replaced.

Herbert W Near, circa 1912. His obituary states in part.....Mr. Near came from Wisbech many years ago, having spent some time in South Africa. He took over the business in Chatteris High Street as a draper and milliner, and carried on there for 33 years. An old letter of condolence dated 18 Nov 1958 from Herbert indicates the address at that time was The Poplars 26 St. Martin's Rd., Chatteris.
